Underwater Antifouling Paint
DRYACHT Underwater Antifouling Application
Antifouling is crucial for performance, fuel economy, and maneuverability. DRYACHT selects the optimal paint system based on your vessel's speed, hull type, and location, applying it with scientific precision.
Why Antifouling?
Biofouling (barnacles, algae) causes speed loss (20-30%), increased fuel consumption (up to 40%), and vibration. It ruins efficiency.
DRYACHT Protocol
1. Washing & Prep
High-pressure washing followed by P80 sanding to create a mechanical key for adhesion.
2. Primer Check
We repair damaged epoxy primer spots using tie-coats (Jotun Vinyguard / International Primocon). Bare hull spots must be primed.
3. Paint Selection
We advise on:
Self-Polishing (SPC): Erodes over time exposing fresh biocide. Good for <25 knots.
Hard Antifouling: Does not erode. For high speed (30+ knots) vessels.
Copper-Free: Must use for Aluminum hulls to prevent galvanic corrosion.
4. Application
Razor-sharp waterlines masked. Minimum 2 full coats, plus a 3rd stripe coat on high-wear areas (waterline, rudder). Applied via roller or airless spray.
5. Propeller Protection
Application of Propspeed or Velox on running gear (props, shafts) to keep them clean.
Why DRYACHT?
Strict adherence to launch windows (immersion time), digital logging of paint types for future compatibility, and anode replacement included in the service.
