Methods
- Mechanical Scaling: Removing heavy rust to SA 2.5 white metal standard using needle scalers.
- Chemical Passivation: Restoring the chromium oxide layer on stainless steel using acidic gels (Wichinox) to prevent crevice corrosion.
- Rust Conversion: Treating inaccessible rust with tannic acid converters (Fertan) that turn rust into a stable black polymer base for painting.
